Toni Carney - Fifth Grade
I
was born in Oklahoma City (a very long time ago!) and attended Oklahoma
City Public Schools on the city’s southwest region. Later I went
on to earn my teaching degree at the University of Science and Arts of
Oklahoma in Chickasha. I chose to attend U.S.A.O. because of the
Interdisciplinary Studies Program that they offered. This program
included Liberal Arts, Professional Studies, and Specialty Studies to
better equip me with the teaching practices that are required by the
state of Oklahoma today.
While working on my degree I also worked as a
homemaker to my family which is full of boys! My wonderful husband
Bart is in construction and frames new houses. My oldest son Chris is 18
and now a senior at Western Heights High School. Chase is 10 and
is in 5th grade here at Mustang Creek. That isn't all the males in
the household! There are also two dogs, Bubba Bean, a golden lab
and Peanut who is a white schnauzer.
After graduating from U.S.A.O. in 2004 I began
working for the Mustang School District teaching Geography to 6th
graders at Mustang North Middle School and moved over to Creek shortly
thereafter. Being at Mustang Creek has been a wonderful experience
for me. The faculty, parents, and community are what make this
school a great place to work. The district encompasses my
philosophy of teaching and supports their teachers by fulfilling the
needs of their teachers. Whether by offering professional
development workshops, or making sure we are on top of current trends in
technology, this school district is the place to be and I couldn’t
imagine being anywhere other than here.
