Misty Kint - Counselor (3-5)
Being an elementary school counselor has been a
lifelong dream I finally made come true four years ago when I joined the
Mustang Creek Family. There are notes from friends, in my high school
year book, referencing me becoming a counselor. Even way back then I
knew I was called to be a counselor and I was given many gifts to make
the dream a reality.
I was born in Dallas, Texas. My dad worked as a vice
president of several banks in Dallas and owned a chain of convenience
stores. When I was still in elementary school he sold the stores and
took a job in the oil industry in hopes of having more family time. We
moved to Houston and were ultimately transferred to Oklahoma. My family
settled in Edmond, Oklahoma and it quickly became home. In my twenties
I moved to San Diego, California and back to Dallas, Texas. When the
opportunity to return to Oklahoma arose, I jumped at the chance! I am
happy to be a transplanted Okie and even talked my mom into moving back
up here.
I have a bachelors in education from the University of
Central Oklahoma. I taught fifth grade in Putnam City Schools for 7
years. I spent five years teaching during the day and pursuing my
masters in guidance and counseling at night. Last year, I accepted the
challenge of teaching the "Big Kids" and taught a couple of psychology
classes at my alma mater, U.C.O.
I love spending time with my nieces Logan and Grace,
who I love just a pinch more than anyone else. They live in Omaha,
Nebraska. I have a dog that resembles a fluffy house slipper. Her name
is Olive. In my free time, I dabble in photography, enjoy reading, art
museums, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
While I do not have any children of my own, I do have
600-700 Creek students who fill my heart and soul daily. It is my honor
and privilege to serve Mustang Public Schools and work with the amazing
parents, students and faculty that make up Mustang Creek Elementary.
